Supporting Careers in Highway, Public Works & Skilled Trades

The Allegany County Town Highway Superintendents Association (ACTHSA) is proud to offer the annual “Road to Your Future” Scholarship to students pursuing careers that support local infrastructure, transportation, construction, and public works.

Each year, ACTHSA awards two (2) $1,500 scholarships to eligible students continuing their education or workforce training.

Scholarship Award

  • Two (2) scholarships awarded annually

  • $1,500 per recipient

  • Open to graduating seniors and recent graduates

Who Is Eligible?

Students must be pursuing education or training in highway, construction, skilled trades, engineering technology, or transportation-related fields and meet one of the following criteria:

🎓 College Programs

Students enrolled at Alfred State College or Alfred University in one of the following programs:

  • Welding Technology (Associate)

  • Surveying & Geomatics Engineering (Associate or Bachelor)

  • Masonry (Associate)

  • Heavy Equipment Operations (Associate)

  • Heavy Equipment: Truck & Diesel Technician (Associate)

  • HVAC (Associate)

  • Electrical Construction & Maintenance Electrician (Associate)

  • Construction Supervision (Bachelor)

  • Construction Management (Bachelor)

  • Construction Engineering Technology (Associate)

  • Civil Engineering Technology (Bachelor)

  • Building Trades – Building Construction (Associate)

  • Automotive Service Technician (Associate)

  • Autobody Repair (Associate)

🚛 Workforce Training (BOCES)

Students completing training through BOCES in:

  • Class A – Tractor Trailer Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-A)

  • Class B – Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-B)

What We’re Looking For

ACTHSA scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate:

  • Interest in highway, public works, construction, or skilled trades careers

  • Commitment to education or workforce training

  • Strong work ethic and community involvement

How to Apply

Applicants must submit:

  • A completed Road to Your Future Scholarship Application

  • At least one reference (teacher, guidance counselor, employer, or instructor)
